Variable names are related both to the type of variable and the defined model structure of Sheets and Categories.  When defining a model, you choose the model structure and variable names by defining and selecting codes for Sheets, Categories, and types of variables.   The selected codes are concatenated to become variable names as shown above.  The scheme gives variable names that have some flexibility but are not too long for ‘readable’ equations.  The nomenclature scheme is very useful when you construct models with, for example, many products (Categories) for each country (Sheets) because in the VORSIM model builder, you can replicate equations quickly across Sheets and Categories.

VORSIM 15 uses this same procedure for creating variable names from equation sheet names plus variable code plus category names.
